MONKEY MUNCHERS YOU'LL NEED: 4 slices thinly sliced, firm-textured whole wheat or white bread Cutting board 1 empty 8-ounce can or 1 empty 3-inch-diameter can or cutter Table knife Sandwich filling Raisins Plate For the sandwich filling: 1/4 cup peanut butter 2 tablespoons soft-style cream cheese 2 tablespoons milk 2 tablespoons crushed pineapple, undrained 1 tablespoon shredded carrot 2 tablespoons banana, chopped STEP 1 In a small bowl combine the peanut butter, cream cheese, and milk. Stir until it is well mixed. Stir in pineapple, carrot, and banana. Makes about 1/2 cup of filling or enough for 2 sandwiches. STEP 2 Lay a slice of bread on a cutting board. Press the can into the corner of 1 slice of bread. Be sure to save the bread crusts. Repeat with remaining bread. STEP 3 Spread the sandwich filling on 2 of the bread circles. Top with the 2 remaining circles. To make ears, use the pieces of bread crusts. Make eyes, noses, and mouths with raisins. To make them stick to the bread, put a little sandwich filling on the raisins. Makes 2 monkey faces.
